GET TO KNOW MAKE A STATEMENT
Make a Statement is a worldwide nonprofit that aims to educate youth and international students about public speaking and Speech & Debate.
We recognize the lack of access to public speaking and Speech & Debate related education at school and in many low-income communities. Thus, we offer free workshops, webinars, camps, as well as free weekly tips on various topics, such as Mock Trial, Model United Nations, Public Forum Debate, Lincoln Douglas Debate, Congressional Debate, Resume Building, Entrepreneurship, Cold Emailing, and more!

In the past five months, Make a Statement was able to reach 25+ countries and 30+ states with 300+ students participating in our workshops, webinars, and other events.
OUR TEAM
EMILY HAN
Co-Founder & Co-Executive Director
Emily is a Sophomore in the Bay Area, CA. She co-founded Make a Statement after realizing the lack of public education for youth and international students. She has four years of competitive experience in Public Forum Debate, which inspired her to design a series of debate curriculum. Outside of debate, she loves serving her community; she is the Vice President of East Bay Interact and the Treasurer of the Interact Club of Silicon Valley. She also loves sketching and playing flute.

KAYLAN SO
Co-Founder & Co-Executive Director
Kaylan is a junior at Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon, CA. She's very passionate about public policy and human rights and involved in many clubs that combine these interests. While she's not debating, she enjoys doing community work and singing in her local choir group. Her life goal is "to create positive changes in society" and hopes to accomplish this through Make a Statement.

PAULINA CHIN-WONG
Director of Finance
Paulina is a rising sophomore at Lynbrook High School located in San Jose, California. Some of her passions include ballet, humanities, psychology, and community service. Whenever Paulina has any spare time you will often find her with her nose in a book, sewing away at her sewing machine, or pursuing a new passion. Paulina is ecstatic to be joining the Project Make A Statement Team because it combines two of her many interests/passions -- Speech and Debate and giving back to others. Through Project Make A Statement, Paulina looks forward to partnering with locals shops in hopes to be able to enact positive changes to make the world a better place.

TRINITY LOPEZ
Director of Outreach
Hello! My name is Trinity Lopes, I am entering 11th grade at Marquette High School. My many interests include public speaking, networking, and politics. I joined Project Make A Statement to show others that public speaking isn’t as intimidating as they think it is, and to help people develop their public speaking skills!

JEN QUACH
Director of Curriculum
Jennifer is a rising senior at Lincoln Southeast High School in Lincoln, Nebraska. She is passionate about sharing information with the world, whether it is spoken or published. This led her to join her school's debate team, where she was a Nationals Quarterfinalist in the House. Additionally, her love for public speaking combined with her interest in science aided her in becoming the HOSA State Champion in Biomedical Debate and the State Runner Up in Researched Persuasive Writing and Speaking. Outside of Project MaS, she is the online editor for her school newspaper, a band section leader, science club president, HOSA member, peer mediator, and school ambassador. Jennifer asserts that information and knowledge should not be withheld from others regardless of their background or who they are, and she joined Project MaS with that objective in mind and to give the younger generation confidence in relaying their messages to the world.

CHLOE LAI
Director of Design
